Great Gift for Your Child
Here are some features to know about binoculars that are made for kids to use. These birdwatching type binoculars are lightweight so kids can carry and hold the binoculars to their eyes for fairly long periods of time. Real kids binoculars are made to fit the smaller face of a child than binoculars that are made for adults. It is also nice when the kids binoculars will fold up into a nice carrying case, because they will probably have to go in your bag for transport.
The lightweight and powerful kids binoculars shown to the left are perfect for a child to observe and learn about nature up close, but without disturbing it. Your child will be in awe of the clear view that they are able to get of birds, squirrels, deer or other wildlife found in nature when viewing through their own binoculars.

Understanding the Features of Binoculars for Adults and Kids
Magnification Power of Binoculars
Two numbers identify binoculars. These numbers on binoculars show magnification power and lens diameter.
Example: 8 x 21 binoculars have a magnification power of 8.
A magnification power of 8 means that an object will appear 8 times closer than it would to your naked eye. For instance, if you view a deer that stands 200 yards away from you through 8x binoculars, it will appear as though it where 25 yards away ( 200 divided by 8).
Steady viewing can become difficult when binoculars have a magnification power greater than 10 because they amplify the movements of your hands.
Objective Lens Diameter of Binoculars
The 2nd number used in binocular identification refers to the diameter (in millimeters) of the objective lenses (those farther from your eyes; those closer to the "object" being viewed).
Example: 8 x 21 binoculars have objective lenses measuring 21mm.
How much light your binoculars can gather is largely determined by the diameter of the objective lenses. If you have 2 different binoculars with exactly the same specifications except for the objective lens diameter, the binoculars with the larger diameter objective lenses will capture more light. This means a brighter view, particularly in low-light conditions.
Binocular Lens Coatings
A portion of the light that passes through the lenses of binoculars is reflected away. This reflection reduces the amount of light that is passing through the lenses and will cause the image to appear dark. Coatings are applied to reduce reflection and ensure clear, sharp images. Fully multicoated lenses on binoculars reduce the most reflection and increase light transmission.
Shock Proof Binoculars for Kids
A feature that is important in kids binoculars is shock proof. Kids are usually more likely to drop their binoculars than adults. Kids binoculars are usually made with a rubber coating that helps absorb the shock of drops and falls on hard surfaces.
Binoculars for children may also have a rubber coating around eyepieces so children don't hurt their eyes or face while viewing objects.
Playing outside is not only fun for children but very healthy. They can run off all that energy and build a strong, healthy body at the same time. With a pair of kids binoculars they can get a better view of nature. Kids also love to learn, and learning about nature is very healthy for their minds. With a pair of lightweight binoculars for kids they can watch and learn about birds, deer, turtles, squirrels. rabbits, etc in their natural habitat. It is an opportunity for your kids to have fun using their binoculars in the great outdoors and to be taught to respect and appreciate nature.
And, with help from books and adults they can learn the value in maintaining the safety and balance of all of nature.
