If you have a portable generator with a 30 Amp RV Plug that, like me, you don't really need, you can use the Camco Heavy Duty 30 Amp RV Generator Adapter to safely distribute power from the 30 Amp male receptacle into two 15 Amp female receptacles. For four prong generators this 30 Amp adapter plug adapts a 4-prong 30 AMP L14-30 receptacle to two 15 AMP 5-15 receptacles. For three prong generators this 30 Amp plug adapter distributes power from the 3-prong 30 AMP L5-30 receptacle to two 15 AMP 5-15 receptacles. This is not for generator 20 or 50 amp receptacles.
This adapter plug is made of heavy duty construction and is one piece that is easy to use.
If your portable generator doesn't have enough regular outlets for all your tools, etc. you can try using a plug strip out of one of your regular outlets but may find that you are always tripping the breaker. The 30 Amp RV plug on the generator has its own breaker and will allow you to use more tools without triping the breaker that your plug strip with too many 15 amp tools is on. For safety purposes you may still want to use a power strip with a 15 amp circuit breaker, because 15 amp tools require a 15 amp breaker. Another option is to use 10 guage wire to take 30 amps.
This type generator adapter plug is hard to find in retail stores.
A lot of people use this adapter in marinas for shore power. Plug is made of impact resistant plastic. Give extra outlets to your generator when the utility power is out to your house.

Understanding Your 30 Amp Receptacle on Your Portable Generator
July 19, 2023 - Whether you’re tailgating, camping, traveling around in your RV, or needing backup power for your home, a 30 amp generator outlet can provide much-needed power with little noise when utility power is not available.
A 30-amp service is a 120-volt RV standard that supplies 3,600 watts of power from the outlet. The service uses 3-prong / 4 prong receptacles and one dedicated 30 amp breaker. For your 30-amps (4 prong) you will need a 30-amp (4-prong) cord. If it is a 30-amp (3-prong) outlet, you will need a 30-amp (3-prong) cord.
If you just want to run a few lights, your refrigerator, a sump pump and a couple of small appliances, a 30 amp portable generator will suffice.
